Type of sentence!!

Hi! I have doubt about the sentences like- "I am mistaken"..... what kind of sentence are they when we can use it..?

Thank u for the answer ....i think my question was little bit confusing .. i know this sectence is correct but i do not know when and where i can use it.

What i ment to say that... here i am using verb "am" and past participle of mistake "mistaken" .... generally with verb "am" we do not use past participle of a verb, so when in speaking or writing these sentences do occ

Here mistaken functions as an adjective.

Look at this sentence where mistaken functions as a verb.

She has mistaken you for my uncle.

Past participle with be verb: It is possible is passive voice.

She is helped by her neighbours.

They are taken to the newly constructed office.

sorry but still i did not understand that gramatically how this sentence is correct .... As you said mistaken is an adjective in the above sentence... so what kind of adjective is it... ?

In following sentences .. why did we not use the present form of the verb?

1) we are taught Arithmatic // why taught why not teach..?

2) the ship was burned

It's very common to used the particple form of a verb as an adjective.

I am mistaken.

The television is broken.

The cookies are burned.

Your examples above use the passive. The passive also uses the particple.

yes, i studied the passive.. but i am messed up now... can you tell me more about participle which are used as an adjective and also the difference between passive sentence and simple sentence where particple are used either in form of adjective or in any other forms like in above sentences (i am mistaken, the television is broken etc) .....because
