Two sides of a hammer: face and pein

Hi

I found these names of the two sides of a hammer: face and pein. Could you please tell me if pein is common enough? Or is there a more typical term?

Thanks,

Tom

pein is an alternative spelling for peen . I've only encountered this word as part of the term a ball-peen hammer. I don't remember ever hearing anyone use this term, or even use the term 'face' for the other side.
