Two sentences or one?

In light of the advice given to me by another member earlier, I was just wondering, would this be easier to read it was split into two sentences? Or perhaps a hyphen would be a better idea?

Thanks in advance,
Emma

The film’s plot is centred on a criminal named Randal McMurphy who has been imprisoned for the rape of a young girl, but is moved to a psychological hospital to be evaluated, and when asked why he has been moved, he says that it is because ‘I fight and *** too much.’

With hypen:

The second version is better. I don't see a hyphen. I see a semi-colon.

  • The second version is better.
  • I don't see a hyphen.
  • I see a semi-colon.
  • That's not wrong, but I would use a period.
