Two sentences?

Moat people give up when they can’t come up with any ideas no matter how hard they try. However, you shouldn’t just sit around and wait for an idea to come to you, or waste your time thinking about the same thing repeatedly.

Are these sentences correct? Also, is the underlined part too colloquial? Is there any alternative I could use?
