Two sentence

Dear teachers:

Please correct my two sentences (my question itself as well). I'm not sure if they are grammatically right and "native enough". Thank you so much!

"I finally got the mood for Whiplash. It might be due to the frustration the day before while I totally lost in the snare drum accents technique things.

p.s Whiplash is the movie.

Thank you so much.

I am taking the drum course now. And the day before I saw the movie,
I was learning a drum technique call "snare drum accents" (I don't know if it is correct" ) , which look like this in the video:

It might be due to the frustration I felt the day before when I was trying, but failing, to learn a difficult snare drum technique.
