Grammar

two repetitive questions

Hello,

1) I came across (with?) this sentence and wish to entreat you for (or with?) grammatical assistance.

Anyway the sentence being:

He has (a) better grasp of things.

Do we need an "a' here or is that optional?

2) Also, when can we use "with things" and "with the things"

Like here, "We also deal with (the) things llke sharing our ideas."

1) You can use both, but the "a" version is more used.

2)You can use both again, but use "the things" when these things are defined, e.g. "we'll also deal with the things you mentioned earlier", and "things" when they are not defined :"we deal with things such as water pollution, acid rains, aso..."
