two questions in need of answers

1. When you are are using the underlined words, also encompassing the words like church, school, etc., would you be guided by whether or not they are being used in general or specifically, there was a prior precedence, and there is mutual cognizance? I seem to see the first sentence of each set more often.

a. When you show up in class, do this.

b. When you are in camp, you should act properly.

When you are in a camp, you should act properly.

When you are in the camp, you should act properly.

2. Why is there no article for the words "summer session"?

after Thursday of the first week for summer session, ...
