Two questions

Man 1: What about you? Is your wife still sick?

Man 2: Yes.

Man 1: I'm sorry. So you're not working at the moment?

Man 2: No, I'm on some sort of leave.

1) In the conversation, what is more natural... So you're not working at the moment? - or - So you don't work at the moment?

2) In the conversation, is it OK/natural to say "I'm on some sort of leave" instead of being more specific?
