Two questions!

I am having a trouble finding out the answers of the following two questions.
In question #1, the answer is (d) but every choice sounds wrong to me...
In question #2, the answer is (c) but to me, both (a) and (d) sound OK....

1.
M: I’ve been thinking about quitting my job.
W:
(a) Your boss probably thinks you can do the job.
(b) I’m sure you’re quite good with your work.
(c) I bet no one else deserves it more than you.
(d) You should start sending out your resume.

2.
M: When will you be coming home?
W: The Friday before St. Patrick’s Day.
M: Are you certain you’ll be able to take off then?
W:
(a) I’m certain I had the dates right.
(b) I guess I’ll just take the train.
(c) Yeah, my vacation was approved.
(d) No, I’m still needed here.
