Two questions

Hi,
1. Should we say 'on its/his side' or 'on its/his sides'? I think we have two sides - left and right.

1.... fingering his side.
2.There are stripes on its side.

2. I found out the word 'red' is both countable and uncountable? Can you give me an example of it being countable?

It just depends on whther you are talking about one r more than one side.
eg I have pain in my side.
eg I have pain in my sides.
