two questions

Hi,

First question: Please tell me what is the difference for these two pairs. I think I am good enough to know they both are correct but I cannot reason them out. Can you explain to me?

1) The money given Tom is his

The money given to Tom is his

2) This will help you avoid low grades.

This will help you to avoid low grades.

Second question: What is the difference?

I finished what you asked me to do.

I finished what you have asked me to do. -- Is this only difference being what he asked me to do has some relevance to the present?

In the sentences in #1 and #2, the 'to' is optional. There is no other difference. I finished what you asked me to do.
