two questions?


  1. He got an excellent grade in his examination .............. the fact that he had not worked particularly hard.
    a) on account of b) because of c) in spite of d) although


  2. 2. If no one ..................... President Kennedy, ..................... things ..................... different now?
    a) had killed / would / be c) has killed / would / have been
    b) had been killed / would / have been d) had been killed / would / be

    i think second question should be a but i'm not sure and i don't know first question what should be?

thank you nona and i asked somebody and he said "in spite of" like you.

but why can't "because of" be?

If you use 'because of' it suggests that not studying will make you pass your exams!

and the first one is instead of the fact that.

you are right grammatically we can use "because of" before "the fact
