Two question (Need your help)

Dear all,

Coudl you help me with the following two question? Thank you very much.

The first one is that I don't know the intended meaning of the following sentence in bold. I can't think of any relation btween ther is no McDonald and people don't eat hamburgers at the South Pole.

There isn't a McDonald's in Antarctica, but I don't suppose they eat hamburgers at the South Pole.

The other question is how to pronounce "Elysees" in English.

Champs Elysees

Thanks again.

Well, for your first question The second part suggest the writer's opinion about people in South pole. He believes that there, people don't eat hamburgers. So the over all meaning would be: There are no McDonald restaurants in South pole, even if there were any, people wouldn't want to try it.
