Two queries

Hi!

My teacher said, "Let's have page 45."
Is that just ok to say?

And I have one more question.
When do we use "What about you and How about you?"

Thanks!Emotion: smile

Top answer

Did he/she want page 45? Or did he/she want you to turn to/read page 45? If they physically wanted the page then its fine otherwise they would have better stating what they want.

She wanted us to turn our book to that page.
So, that's inappropriate to say?

Thanks!

It isn't really correct for the meaning, however I guess you had read/ various pages already so he/she was just an informal expression "let's have page 45". Spoken English uses lots of informal expressions and phrases that are not correct (because they are unclear or ungrammatical) but aren't meant to be taken literally.

Anyway, how about the other question I asked?(or should I say "what about?")

hi!

I think based on waht was her purpose. or did she want to say Let's go to page 45?

and the other question:

I try my best to ans. ( i don't I am right or not)

I think " what about you" is asking what do you get. e.g. when we discuss about the score of our tests. your friend ask yoor score. then he/ she may say

Again informal usage. There aer better ways of phrasing sentences for formal use.

Sorry, but I don't get it.

My other question was " when do we use what about you and how about you?"

Are they just the same in meaning?
Thanks!
