Two commands connected by semicolon

Hi. Please tell me if it is correct to connect two commands with a semicolon, assuming they are related in content.
Some very simple examples (which might be much too simple) I can think of are as follows:

Say this; write that.
Learn this; learn that.

The semicolon is wrong there. Use a comma:

Say this, write that.
Learn this, learn that.

I'd use a semi-colon or even a full stop (period).
