Two Comma Examples

I have a couple of comma questions:

1. This always happens to me and it ticks me off.

Should there be a comma before "and"?

2. Well, it wouldn't be a story without the guy actually going over there, now would it?

Is the comma in the right place, or should it be after the "now"?

Thanks.

Oh, I misread your question. I meant that an additional comma (after now) would be excessive. The comma before now is required, as it is part of the question tag.

Oh, I see! I didn't realize that the name tag had to begin with "now." Now I know what you mean by excessive.
