Please check the tenses and verb as well i have used here.
The wide-screen TV, high up on the shelf by the wall, was showing some action movie scene and making the walls shake with its loud volume. I sat quietly on the sofa below and furiously muted its volume with a remote control [comma we applied?] which was placed on nearby the small table, and settled my eyes on wall clock.

The secene is that shelf which holds the Tv, i don't know its exact name -- tv stand i guess, and it is attached to the wall.
