turned me into a banana

'Ive had a terrible day at the office, dear. My secretary went home sick, we lost three major contracts and a funny little dwarf turned me into a banana.'

I don't know that(a banana) means what. My dictionary said that bonanas(adj) means crazy ( drive me bananas, go bananas), but a banana in turned me into a banana is a noun not adj.

Top answer

' I'm sure the speaker is using this as hyperbole (exaggeration) to jokingly make the point of a terrible, horrible, very bad day.
