To demand that someone turn out their pockets is, to me, a familiar English phrase. That's because you can turn your pocket inside out, pull the lining out the garment

To demand that someone does that is to demand that they prove they are not hiding anything. (It's the kind of thing demanded of school children!)

To say 'I demand you turn out your books' is unusual b
