Turn into, onto... Sunset Street

Hi,
should I turn into or onto, ot just in or to or on ... a street, road, boulevard, etc.?

At the first intersection, turn ... Sunset Street.
Take the first left and then turn ... Sunrise Boulevard.

left/right onto (AmE) It's the only combination I ever use in that context. Also when giving directions: At the first intersection turn right and you'll be on ... Street.
