turn aside from???

Is there a phrase "turn aside from?" If yes, does the following sound rihgt? Thanks.

I turn aside from the street to let someone pass because he is in a hurry.

You're in your car? Then you could say:
"I pull to the side of the street to let someone pass (or "overtake") because..."
Or if you take another street:
"I take the next turning to let someone pass because..."
