Tugging yanking

Burt stands, transfixed, staring at the dead police officer. He starts tugging/yanking/tugging and yanking at the body, much to the annoyance of Billy.

Billy: Burt, stop. He's dead.


1. Is all this correct English?

2. Could I use all three options here?

Yes.

Yes. They are all grammatical; however, 'yanking' strikes me as the wrong word. You yank on the cord of a gas-operated lawn motor to get it started. As far as I know, nobody yanks on a dead body.
