My college is going to hold a contest to choose top performers to represent my college to compete in a national English speaking contest.
Which one should we call the contest held by my college, "tryout" or "selection contest"?
In my view, a "tryout" means a selection contest to choose the best players for a sports team to compete in a sports game and so I prefer to use "selection contest" to refer to the contest held by my college. Am I right?
