Trying to find an equivalent expression

Hello. While translating an article into English, I came across an expression that I don't know how to translate, and I am trying to find an equivalent expression in English. The expression can be literally translated as 'The told and untold of____(politics in this case), meaning things we know and don't know(that are kept secret). I was wondering if there is an expression in English that conveys more or less the same meaning?
