Trying to conquer the use of articles..

"Sometimes a noun is use uncountably when we are talking about THE idea..."

1. Is it correct to have "THE" before "idea" since it is the idea represented within the noun?

2. If the sentence began with "nouns" rather than "a noun", will it still be "the idea" or "the ideas" ?

Thank you.
