Trying out Celtx
EXT. CITY STREET NIGHT
A new, 50s squad car, the only traffic, moves
slowly down the street its shiny paint and
chrome reflecting on the brightly lit, wet road. A neon sign blinks "JANSEN'S JEWELRY."
A COUPLE walks along the sidewalk.
CLEVE SAUNDERS, early 20s, baggy dress pants and
v-neck sweater pulls BRIANNE ALDER, early 20s,
hair bobbed, checkered skirt and white sweater, to the lighted window.
He points to a specific ring, but she glances at
the building on the other side of the street.
CLEVE
There. See?
BRIANNE
It is pretty, Cleve, but I...
Then she cranes her neck, looking up, eyes wide.
BRIANNE
Please. Can we go now?
Cleve is on his knees. His voice cracks
CLEVE
Brianne... I... uh...
EXT. ABOVE CITY STREET CONTINUOUS
Cleve and Brianne look small, far below on the
sidewalk.
Something scrapes along the surface of the wall,
its shape indistinct, hidden deep in the shadows.
EXT. CITY STREET CONTINUOUS
Cleve retrieves a small jewelery case from his
pants pocket
CLEVE
I umm... I mean... Uh, will you
Brianne grabs Cleve's hand and tries to pull him
up.
BRIANNE
We've got to go, Cleve.
CLEVE
Marry me?
BRIANNE
Yes. Please, let's go!
CLEVE
But
BRIANNE
Go!
CLEVE
You didn't even look... It's just like
the one
Twin columns of sparks slide down the wall as a
SHADOW thumps to the sidewalk and disappears. Bits of brick sprinkle down after it.
Cleve jumps up and grabs Brianne's hand.
CLEVE
C'mon!
She's inert, unmoving. Her shoulders slumped.
BRIANNE
Too late.
CLEVE
Brianne!
He futilely yanks at her hands.
Several more SHADOWS slide down the wall and thump to the sidewalk.
CLEVE
What the hell?
Brianne looks up, tears in her eyes. She draws
Cleve to her and kisses him.
BRIANNE
I loved you.
CLEVE
Brianne?
Clawed hands yank her away as the Shadow fades in
behind her. Its lips at at her ear.
A hoarse whispering hiss
SHADOW
You've been missed, Brie Un.
Cleve swings at the Shadow's head, but his hand
passes through as it fades out again.
Invisible it drags Brianne away.
CLEVE
! Fight me!
It fades in again.
SHADOW
Fight... you?
Laughter as several Shadows fade in.
BRIANNE
No he doesn't want
Cleve slams his fist into its head. Bones crack.
He grabs his hand, groaning.
CLEVE
Ow! You son of a ***.
SHADOW
Fight... me?
With one arm still around Brianne the Shadow picks Cleve up by the collar, momentarily glares into
his eyes, and casually flips him across the
street.
Cleve lands hard.
Laughter as the Shadows fade away. Brianne is
dragged a few more feet, then she, too,
disappears.
CLEVE
Brianne!

I love Celtx. I have ditched Sophocles and now use it all the time. Shame there's no British English dictionary option (annoying to have to be told I've misspelled words like travelling, colour, foetus, centre, recognise, etc) There's a Catalan dictionary, but no ****** British one!

I love Celtx.
I have ditched Sophocles and now use it all the time. Shame there's no British English dictionary option (annoying to have to be told I've misspelled words like travelling, colour, foetus, centre, recognise, etc)
There's a Catalan dictionary, but no ****** British one! Hrmphh!!

I like it and it's free but, in my opinion, it's not yet up to MMS or Sophocles standards. I'm trying to figure out how I'd get along with Linux instead of Windows and Celtx runs on Linux. The test this morning was to see if I could "MWSm" format scripts like I do with Movie Magic. The answer is, it can be done (at least in Windows) but it involves more work. I'll prob

You can buy one for $29. Kind of pricey for a spelling dictionary but they are available (unless these are just for version 7).

I saw that too alas, too late. I guess you've got to go open source if you want to stay on the cutting edge.
