Try to make story about [take up]

Hi, I am uncertain as to the distance between my understanding and the real meaning of [take up].I make it into story so as to let you tell me correct or not. 1. He has just taken up playing the guitar.the story: He has just taken playing the guitar to his mind and made up all the time. 2. I'll take this matter up with my lawyers. the story: I'll take this matter close up the distance with my lawyers. No one took up my suggestion. the story: No one took my suggestion close up the distance with me. 3. Can I take you up on your offer of a meal?the story: I can't give.
