Truth squad

I heard this expression on the radio:

# We're going to truth squad some of the claims with our science correspondent.

Are they using "truth squad" as a verb here...? How would you paraphrase this sentence? I'm baffled.

Top answer

Yes, it looks like they've made it a verb. It means that they are going to make a concerted or group effort to prove or disprove the claims of the correspondent.

English is really flexible... whoof. And you prefer figurative, crisp expressions, seems like. It's great, however baffling sometimes...

Thank you so much,
