Why do these two sentences use different verbs when the subject is both one?

'Should' is followed by the infinitive.

For example.,

There is a group of verbs called modal verbs:

will, would, shall, should, can, could, may, might, must

These never take the form with "s": wills, woulds, ..., mays, ... are all wrong.

And they are never followed by a verb with the "s": will takes, will trusts, may walks, ... are all wrong.

So you can't have should trusts or
