Troubled

Hi,

A teenager travels near and far searching for love and attention after a troubled childhood.

What does troubled mean here?

Thanks.

Top answer

A "troubled" childhood could have varying degrees of trouble. A child that has been traumatized from abuse could come from a "troubled" childhood.

It's "far and near", not "near and far", and you actually wanted "far and wide". "Far and near" means "in every part". "Far and wide" means "over a wide area".

Hi CJ,

If a person has a bad behavior, for example, he likes to steal money, likes to bully other people or likes to cheat in exams, can I call them as troubled people?

Thank you very much.
