Vocabulary

tropical night

a sultry night when the temperature does not drop very much
We say the Japanese equivalent of 'tropical night' here.
Is it said in English too? Sweltering night?

Thank you.

There are times, like now, when heat waves are rampant in the northern US. When I was living there, there would be nights when I could not stand to stay outdoors because of the heat. But tropical Night, I think, would refer more to humidity.

because of the global warming. Maybe it has already reached the stage
that cannot be reversed.
BTW, nights in tropical areas are tropical nights. It seems there is
no such term as 'tropical night' in English. Is there?
'A night of tropical weather'?

First of all, the humidity can be very, very high in the U.S., so I don't know where the idea of such low humidity came from. Recently it was around 90% where I live, which made it very uncomfortable.

Yes, we absolutely will refer to a "tropical" feeling, when the night air is quitie warm, and, as pointed about, is rather humid. We also will refer to arctic nights when it's really, real
