Triple

As far as I know, a digit is normally pronounced as "double *" when it occurs twice in succession in a phone number.

What if a digit occurs three times in succesion in a phone number? Can it be pronounced as "triple *"? For example, a phone number 244456 would normally be pronounced as "two-triple four-five--six", wouldn't it? If not, then how?
