Triple

Hello,

The english teacher of my daughter (who is not a native) taught her that when saying phone numbers we should not use "triple". I thought we could use. For instance, the following phone number:

21445559

for me it would be: two, one, double four, triple five, nine

my daughter's teacher says it should be: two, one, double four, double five, five, nine.

Which one is more correct to the eyes of a native speaker? Or are both possible?

Thank you.

Ruca.

Both are correct, but I don't know anyone who uses either. I would say two one four four five five five nine . And that's what I expect to hear.

I understand you. There are things about my own language which come in the books that I never say...
