Trinkets

Hello.

Can you please help me understand this sentence from the TV show "Black Books"?

Manny: Well the thing here… uhh, takings… £370.
Bernard: That’s good.
Manny: Yeah but your outgoings were over £1200.
Bernard: Well… whores will have their trinkets.

What does that mean?

Thanks.

"will have" means "insist"?

I thought "will" refers to somthing in the future, does't it?

Thanks.

Hi,

Think of 'will have' here as slightly idiomatic.

Hi,

He will have his little joke. He insists on making little jokes. He loves little jokes. He has a habit of making little jokes.

You could say that 'will' here expresses a form of volition, meaning the exercise of a person's will. That's why we say things like 'he has a lot of willpower'.
