Trigger

I read this online, last I checked trigger isn't intransitive and isn't used like this. What do you think?

If the sensors triggers a person or an object, it will cause the doors to reopen and does not close until the person moved away or the object is removed from the doorway.
Thanks

What about the other way around: If a person or object triggers the sensor, the door will stay open.
How would you say: If there is an object in the path of the door, the door will stay open.
Thanks

Anonymous If a person or object triggers the sensor, the door will stay open.
That would work. It is the active version of my previous suggestion.
AnonymousIf there is an object in the path of the door, the door will stay open.
That makes sense.

Is 'path' the best choice? What about 'way'? How would you go about it?
If there is an object in the path of the door, the door will stay open.
If there is an object in the way of the door, the door will stay open.

What do you think of:
As long as the sensor is being triggered the door won't close.

Is it correct?

Any of these would work.

Do you have a preference for 'way' or 'path' in the last examples?
Thanks

I would be more likely to say way, but I might say path instead once in a while.
