Tries or trying?

Here's the question:

Every time when my sister and I go out, it runs to us quickly, ___ to bite us with its teeth.

A. tries

B. trying

C. try

D. to try

I think the answer is A, but some of my classmates said the answer is B. So...which is the correct answer? Thank you so much.

Top answer

Tiffany Tsou very time when my sister and I go out, it runs to us quickly, ___ to bite us with its teeth. Hello, Tiffany. That sentence is VERY non-native, so the test writer is not fluent in English, but the answer must be B, because A requires an additional conjunction.
