00It's also redundant to say 'a court trial', because a trial

0 A trial may last several days and over this time there will be court hearings02br
00I think Court Sitting can be used to mean Court Hearing - although you would say I have to attend a court hearing (not a court sitting)02br

0Thanks, RayH. I have no problem understanding trial. However, all I could understand about hearing was it's less formal and shorter. The rest was way beyond my vocabulary to be able to comprehand. Probably as time goes on, I'll understand it more.02br

00 There is such a thing as an 'informal hearing' where perhaps only the Judge and the legal representatives are present. 0-

0 There is also a 'meeting in chambers' - and this would be quite informal. Present would be the Judge and legal representatives from one side or both. When 'meeting in chambers' I believe that the attendees can dispense with the necessity to wear formal robes, and the meeting is generally to discuss a point of law, or perhaps for the Judge to give informal guidance. 0-
