Tree

See the picture these students planted the tree now they will surround/cover it with net to protect from being eaten by veg wild animal like goat, cow, sheep etc, they will put a piece of bamboo inside to provide support to the net, now the question is what do call this process putting bamboo inside the ground after digging or directly to minimal length. And what do we call veg animal and non veg animal, I know that's not an appropriate way to ask please help me.
