treats/healing

The doctor is treating/healing an important patient who is suffering with high fever.

The doctor have to check up him and treat/heal him and prescribe medicine so it will take few hours for him to get out of the treatment room.

Please help me understand the difference between treating and healing taking doctor as the main figure in the sentences.
