TRAVELLING

If one is travelling back home from his work place in a public transport and not driving himself in his own car can we say it as "Driving back home." or should we need to tell it as "travelling back home."?

Please suggest.

no, you cannot say "driving back home" if he is using public transport. You can say "traveling back home", although it does not sound too nice because "traveling" is used more for a longer distance such as between cities... just use "he is going back home"

I'm going (back) home. - Nothing about how you're going home is specified.

Contrast that with any of these:

I'm driving home. - in your own car or truck, for example.

A friend of mine is driving me home. - in your friend's car or truck, for example.

I'm walking home.

I'm taking the bus home.
