travel out of ...

Hello,
Is it correct to say: "She has never travelled out of Boston"? Is "out of" the right preposition in this sentence?

Google tells me that both:

"never travelled out of"
"never travelled outside of"

are used, with about the same frequency, when referring to countries and cities.
