which sentence is correct?
1) I trvavelled by trolleybus.
2) I travelled by trolleybuses.

If you took different trolleybus routes, and want to bring the reader's attention to that fact, then the second is correct. If you want to talk about a single journey, or about a daily routine/general action, the first is correct.
