Transpose

Hi,

What does it mean to ‘transpose music into a different key’? Does it have something to do with how high or low the notes are?

Thank you.

The "key" of a piece of music is, loosely speaking, the base or root note, to which the melody or chord structure returns in order to resolve itself. "transposing" is just a fancy word for changing the key. When you change key, all the notes in the melody will normally shift up or down by the same amount.
