Translucent buttons or luminescent buttons

Hi

Some buttons or hands in clocks can be seen in the dark. What are they called in everyday English? Translucent buttons or luminescent buttons? Please see if this conversation is natural.

A - How did you reach the switch if it was completely dark in the room?
B - The switch had luminescent buttons.

Thanks,

Tom

Luminescent is fine (not translucent). More informal and conversational would be "the switch glows in the dark," or "it has 'glow-in-the-dark' buttons."

Mr. TomTranslucent ... or luminescent
translucent is wrong; luminescent is right.

'translucent' is that which lets light pass through it.
'luminescent' is that which gives off light.
