Translation of a very old Auca from Catalonia
An Auca or Aleluya is what yo call in English "Strip cartoon with rhyming couplets".
This one dates from the mid-nineteenth century.
It's almost impossible to keep the rhyme when translating something into another language, so I gave in trying.
What I want to know is if my grammar is correct and if you can change some of the words to give it the appearance of old English.
Translation (my try):
Gentlemen, look at this dreadful event, that happened in 'Lugar Nuevo', in the municipality of Castroviejo.
A young lady and her boyfriend, who lived in the countryside, were both stabbed to death with a big knife by Benigno Calatrava.
This Benigno was the former boyfriend of the murdered woman. To take revenge on her forgetfulness, he chopped her head off.
First he squeezed the man's gullet using the tie that he wore. It was a public holiday, so he was perfectly dressed up.
Afterwards, he hit him in the brains with a brick. Then he thrust at him with a kitchen knife, twisting it to be more painful.
The lady, seeing this, screamed and fainted, saying while she fell face down, 'Ow! Benigno Calatrava'.
That evil man jumped on her and without wasting time, raped her with great violence. When he finished, he cut her throat mercilessly and the blade of the knife got nicked.
Next week, the Civil Guard arrested him and the Judge sentenced him to death.
Who lives by the sword shall die by the sword.
