Translation

Hello,

Could you please correct this translation?

“It’s a very rare mirror of the 18th century. This mirror is made of silver, it’s marvelous, isn’t it? I will tell you it in secret Sir, that mirrors like this one hold the mystery within .The seller did his best to interest Edward. “

“It doesn’t even cost too much.” Continued he.

“All right I will take it but what if my wife doesn’t like it?”

“It’s impossible, Sir.”

The mirror was really beautiful and heavy too. Edward had never seen such an old mirror before. There was no doubt anymore that she would like it.

“Darling, I have got a present for you.”

“Oh, Edward the mirror again.”

“This one is special, honey. You like antiques don’t you?”

Lora really did.

“Where would you like to put it?’’

“Anywhere you like but, not in the sleeping room.”

“Not in the sleeping room?”

“They say that mirrors should not be placed there.”

“I didn’t know , that you were superstitious. All right, as you wish let’s put it in the cabinet.”

Hello,

Could you tell me please why it is a mistake to use 'of' instead of 'from' in this sentence?

"It's a very rare mirror from the 18th century.

"From" refers to a time period, so in your example, the mirror came from the 18th century as a period of time.

"Of" would mean that the mirror somehow belonged to the 18th century.

Having said that, the word "from" could also be used when an item belonged to something (such as "The drawer from that green chest of drawers"). You still wouldn't use "of", although I don't know how
