Translating teaching positions and academic institution's names

Hello! I'm currently translating my resume to English, and I'm having a hard time translating my position and the name of the institution I'm currently working at.

Is 'Assistant Professor' an actual position? Where is it located in the salary scale?

Also, I work at 'Facultad de ciencias veterinarias, Universidad Nacional'. I'm traslating 'Universidad Nacional' as 'National University', but can't figure out how to translate 'Facultad'.

And a quickie: does 'experience in writing academic and scientific papers' sound OK to you?

Many thanks!!!!
