Translating a joke

I have a problem with understanding English humour again Emotion: sad . Please help me with it, maybe I just misunderstood smth? To tell the truth I'm confused about the phrase in bold. What does it mean?

The mother kangaroo suddenly leapt into the air and gave a cry of pain. "Sydney!" she screamed. "How many times do I have to tell you that you cannot smoke in bed!"
