Translated sentence

I have translated a sentence into English. Does it make any sense?

It never happened that I had called him and he didn't responsed. This time, too, he has responded to my call.

Top answer

Your sentence does not work, probably because of the double negative (never/not). I suggest rewording. eg He has never failed to respond when I call him.
