Transitive vs intransitive verb

Hallo dear teachers,

Please tell me if the verbs "borrow" and "lend" can get the ending "ing"?

E.g. I am borrowing a book from him.

I am lending him a book. (is that possible?)

Yes, those are both possible – but the choice has nothing to do with transitive/intransitive. It is stative verbs which sometimes seem wrong or uncomfortable in progressive forms: I hear your cries for help. (X) I am hearing your cries for help.

It is quite simple: transitive verbs need an object and intransitive verbs do not.

Linking verbs are intransitive. Sentences with intransitive verbs cannot be cast into passive voice. Many verbs can be both.

Transitive (with object):

I shot the cat.

I understood the lesson.

I know that you are unhappy.
